Preparing for your
tattoo appointment

Here are my recommendations for getting prepared for your tattoo appointment:

  • Rest and sleep well before your appointment.
  • Make sure you have eaten before your appointment and are well hydrated.
  • Bring snacks and drinks with you to your appointment. Ideally include a sugary drink or snack.
  • Avoid heavy training or exercise before your appointment.
  • Avoid heavy drinking/drugs before the appointment.
  • Avoid tanning beds and sun exposure before your tattoo appointment. If you have got sunburn in the area to be tattooed this may result in cancellation of your appointment.
  • Do moisturise ahead of your tattoo appointment but please avoid using exfoliants as these can irritate the skin.
  • Make sure to wear something comfortable to your appointment and also not your best whites! Please make sure the area to be tattooed is accessible. Obviously, in some cases you may have to remove items of clothing but screens and covers will be provided to ensure your comfort and privacy. If you feel as though you would like someone to accompany you please let me know ahead of the appointment.
  • Bring anything that you feel will make your appointment more comfortable. Headphones, books, magazines, cushions, blankets, snacks and drinks – whatever you think you might need.
  • Please don’t worry about shaving the area to be tattooed before the appointment. This is part of the tattoo process and I will be able to do this for you in a sterile environment and avoid any nicks.
  • Please DO NOT use numbing cream for your appointment without talking with me first. If you are interested in using them please let me know and I will discuss options with you. If we have discussed using numbing cream and it has been agreed please use it carefully and follow the instructions. I will remove the wrapping when you arrive. If you feel any irritation after applying it remove the wrapping immediately and follow the instructions on the packet.
  • Don’t forget your ID.

If you have any questions regarding your appointment or prepping for your appointment please consult with me first rather than advice from others or the internet.
